is one of those drinks I usually pass on (because I don’t like it usually, not for any other reason). Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE being able to warm up through a delicious hot drink, but hot cocoa rarely does it for me…. Then one day, like last year (wow that was recent!), a few friends and I were trying the different containers of hot cocoa in my pantry. There were a lot of them, and they were all random flavors and brands. After making one particularly not awesome cup of hot cocoa, a friend asked if I had dark cocoa powder. I was a bit hesitant because the thick, rich Starbucks hot cocoa is just too much for me. Weird taste preferences I guess. Luckily I did have some dark cocoa powder and because I’m a dark chocolate-aholic, I’d at least have to try it.
It took just one extra spoonful of dark cocoa powder to change the whole freaking game.
I realized I didn’t dislike hot cocoa, I just didn’t like hot cocoa that was mixed with water, and had milk chocolate in it. Focusing on creamy darker hot chocolate, but in true Goldilocks fashion, not too milky and not too dark cocoa, I found my perfect match. So much so that I made my own.
Even though I’m 100% a lazy cook
I do love to experiment in the kitchen. And a totally new *quick* method = sheer joy! Hence the homemade hot chocolate.
That’s the thing about eating, when you practice mindfulness
and realize what you like and what you don’t like, you don’t have to worry about eating something that just doesn’t do it for you, and you can focus your efforts on food/drinks that are satisfying and amazing. it’s cool
